Athulya, who was in the news for her bold role in Yemaali, has bagged a meaty lead heroine role in En Peyar Aanandhan. The stylish thriller has Santhosh Prathap of Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam fame as the lead protagonist. Sridhar Venkatesan, lauded for his short Chitthiram Kolludhadi in the recently released anthology 6 Athiyayam, directs the movie. “The success of EPA has given me the confidence to launch this fill-fledged feature, Sridhar says. “The movie is based on a few real life incidents and the story happens against the backdrop of our ancient and traditional stage art form of ‘theru koothu’.”
The thriller also highlights Tamil culture and traditions. “I did a lot of research throughout Tamil Nadu on the subject before finalising the script. I have roped in Mike Wilson, a Hollywood writer and adviser on screenplay writing for my film. I discussed the full script and have given a new style of narration.” For the first time, there’s a 12-minute song in the pre climax portion which would move the audiences emotionally, claims Sridhar.
