I need more maturity to do women-centric films: Hansika Motwani
Hansika made her debut in Tamil opposite Dhanush in Mappilai five years back. She is not the same innocent looking teenager any more. All we can see in her now is poise, elegance and the confidence of a grown-up. Ahead of her first release in 2017, the Manithan actress gets chatty in a tete-a-tete with DC, where she opens up about her role in Bogan, her happy self and her thoughts on female-centric flicks, which have been on a surge lately.
ROLE IN BOGAN
I play the driving force of the hero, who has a very peculiar and unique character. It’s cute and a different kind of a love story, which every girl will be able to relate to easily.
STYLE MANTRA
It’s good to have a personal stylist and I see great response for whatever I wear. Along with my team, we take a lot of effort to look good even in the simplest of clothes that we pick for the films and other occasions.
RAPPORT WITH RAVI
With Bogan, it’s better chemistry, of course! The audience can see our growth as actors. A lot of people love it when we both come together on screen. We have garnered so much appreciation, which is the reason why we keep teaming up.
ARVIND SWAMI’S CHARM
I have a lot of scenes with Arvind Swami. It was great working with him — he is a phenomenal actor and looks amazing on and off screen. What more can I say — it was extremely wonderful to share screen space with an experienced actor.
FUN ON THE SETS
The entire film was memorable for me, as I am teaming up with Ravi for the third time, director Lakshman for the second time, and cinematographer Soundararajan for the fourth time. It was wonderful reuniting with everybody. I don’t remember us putting up a serious face for an emotional scene. Once, Ravi and I spent an entire day laughing throughout when everybody else was ready to roll. It was a riot!
AMAZING 2017
It has started with a blast and my wish is that 2017 will be even bigger than 2016. I can see it happening and I am just hoping for the best. I have back to back releases in Tamil and Telugu — Bogan and Luckunnodu (slated to release on February 3).
ON HEROINE-CENTRIC FILMS
When the time comes, I will do female-centric films for sure. Right now, I have the tag ‘commercial heroine’. My resume says the same as well. All these years, I have churned out commercial hits. I am just five years old in the industry and I think I would need more experience and maturity to pull off a woman-centric movie. I am currently enjoying the films that I am being offered.
Fitness SECRET
Honestly, I don’t diet at all and I don’t think anyone should diet as well! I am completely different from others and I don’t enjoy eating food. Often, people come up to me and ask how can I not enjoy food. Unlike others, I eat food to live and not the other way round. I practice yoga and that is my only secret.
