The much-hyped action drama Kingdom is facing early turbulence at the box office despite an impressive opening. Trade sources reveal that the film has collected a total share of ₹18 crore plus share in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over its first three days — but the steep decline in collections is raising concerns.
After a robust opening day with ₹11 crore share, the film saw a sharp dip on the second and third days, together contributing only ₹7 crore. “The drop was quite unexpected given the pre-release buzz,” said a leading distributor.Starring Vijay Devarakonda in a power-packed role, Kingdom was touted as his major comeback. His intense and sincere performance has won praise, but the film's predictable and contrived storyline appears to be disappointing audiences. “Vijay gave his all, but the story failed to resonate. Unless collections bounce back, the film could soon be in a danger zone,” observed a leading distributor. With theatrical rights reportedly sold for ₹37 crore in the Telugu states and an estimated production budget of over ₹130 crore, the stakes are enormous.
Distributors are now urging the makers to intensify promotional efforts to salvage the film. “Only a strong push through aggressive marketing can help recover the investment,” the source added.
