Kiara Ditches Manish Malhotra, It’s Gaurav Gupta for Her Met Gala Look
Designer Gaurav Gupta has made a mark with top notch international celebs wearing his creations. Manish is yet to occupy that space. He’s seen mostly as dressing Bollywood celebs for weddings.
Kiara Advani will wear Gaurav Gupta instead of Manish Malhotra for her Met Gala debut on May 5. The avant garde designer has created a customised outfit for Kiara who is six months into her pregnancy.
“Gupta’s aesthetics and sensibilities are more in line with the Met Gala Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme, honouring the cultural impact and artistry of Black fashion. Also, being her first appearance on this red carpet, the fashion counts in all aspects,” says a source.
Unconfirmed reports said Kiara was initially hesitant to participate in the Gala, but had done so at the behest of her mentor, producer Ashvini Yardi, and Manish Malhotra. Malhotra was expected to be her choice of designer for the occasion, given that he was responsible for her trousseau and has outfitted her for many appearances.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan is expected to walk the red carpet in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation, while Priyanka Chopra has opted for a Balmain.
