Veteran actor Kamal Haasan is currently on a whirlwind promotional tour for his upcoming film Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. During an event held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, Haasan candidly reflected on his cinematic journey, including past missteps.

Without directly naming any film, the actor alluded to the underwhelming response to his previous project, Indian 2. “I’m making amends for a bad film,” he said while introducing Thug Life, signaling a fresh chapter and a renewed promise to his audience.

Sharing the stage with co-stars Silambarasan, Trisha, Abhirami, and Nasser, Kamal Haasan struck a humble yet confident tone. “I’ve made many mistakes. You’ve forgiven my bad films and remembered only the good ones. Thank you for that,” he told the crowd. “I must give you good films.”

Highlighting his legacy in Telugu cinema, Haasan noted, “In straight Telugu films, my record is strong. I’ve done about 15–16 films and 13 of them were hits. I gave those too—and when I delivered flops, I owned them.”

The actor concluded on an earnest note, saying, “Now I’m paying back my debt. For giving you a bad film, I’m giving you a good one. That’s what an honest artist should do.”
