Kalki 2898 AD ticket rate hike justified?
With Telangana government permitted a hike of ticket rates to Rs 395 per head for ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ and it has surpassed the ticket rates of ‘RRR’ and ‘Salaar’. “Ticket rates for ‘Kalki’ were hiked by by mere Rs 100 from Rs 295 to 395 which is almost on par with ‘Salaar,’ says a distributor who justifies the hike. “The magnum opus has been made for Rs 600 and 700 crores, so admission rates have to shore up since a lot of money is at stake,” he adds. He further says, “We have retained the lower-class rates at Rs 80 per head, while ‘Salaar ‘was sold for Rs 100 since we want more people to watch our movie,” he adds.
Talking about the ticket price of Rs 497, which is the highest for a Telugu film in Telangana, he adds, “This ticket rate is for early morning shows only which is a kind of benefit shows. Usually, those tickets are sold for Rs 2000 or 3000 per person in the black market. To curb this mance, we fixed a premium price and affordable one for Prabhas fans and the general audience too,’ he points out.
The much-hyped Prabhas-Deepika Padukone starrer has been sold for Rs 70 crores in Telangana and it is the highest price for a Prabhas movie in recent times. “It is a bit on the higher side in comparison to other movies but distributors are confident that Prabhas would draw in sensational openings to make it safer for all,” he concludes.
