It's a Wrap For Rishab Shetty's Kantara 2

“This is not just cinema, this is a divine force.” That is how Rishab Shetty describes Kantara Chapter 1 — a film deeply rooted in belief, culture, and the spiritual traditions of coastal Karnataka.

Mangaluru: Giving fans a deeper look into the soul of Kantara Chapter 1, Hombale Films on Monday released a behind-the-scenes video titled “World of Kantara ~ A Glimpse into the Making.” The video not only showcases the scale of the production but also highlights the spiritual intensity that drives the much-anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara.

“This is not just cinema, this is a divine force.” That is how Rishab Shetty describes Kantara Chapter 1 — a film deeply rooted in belief, culture, and the spiritual traditions of coastal Karnataka.

Available on YouTube with audio options in multiple languages, the video features visuals from the shoot along with a heartfelt voiceover by actor-director Rishab Shetty, who reflects on the film’s three-year journey — one he calls nothing short of divine.

“No matter the challenges I faced, the Daiva (spirit deity worshipped in the southern parts of the Coastal Karnataka region and also some places of Kerala) never let go of me. Every day when I saw the thousands who gathered to work, one thought kept coming back to me — this is not just cinema, this is a divine force,” Rishab says in the narration, underscoring the core themes of faith and cultural spirit that define Kantara.

The video captures glimpses of the film’s locations, the elaborate sets, Rishab’s training in martial arts.

“I had a dream — to share the story of my soil with the world. Our village, our people, our beliefs. When I chose to pursue that dream, thousands stood with me. Three years of hard work, 250 days of shoot… My entire team and producers were my backbone,” he says in the background narration.

The video closes with an emotional moment with Rishab standing with his team and thanking them on the set: “This is not just mine, it’s all of yours, and ours. Thank you so much. Love you all. And… pack up.”

Hombale Films stated that filming for Kantara Chapter 1 has wrapped up and the film is now in post-production. The movie is scheduled for a global theatrical release on October 2.

Sharing the video on social media, Rishab and Hombale Films wrote:

“#KantaraChapter1 has been a divine journey, deeply rooted in our culture, brought to life with unwavering dedication, relentless hard work, and incredible team spirit. Can’t wait to see you all in theatres on October 2nd, as this legendary tale unfolds on big screens worldwide.”

Set in a mystical, folklore-inspired universe, Kantara Chapter 1 will explore the origins of the world introduced in the original film — one that was praised for its powerful storytelling, strong performances, and its deep connection to regional traditions and belief systems.
