I Don't Follow Lord Ram: Kamal Haasan On Second Marriage Despite Being Brahmin

The anchor on the stage asked what is your take on marriage. To which Trisha Krishnan replied. "I don't believe in marriage. It's okay if it happens, and okay if it doesn't too."

When Kamal Hassan was asked the same, he narrated a decade old incident with MP John Brittas.

Hassan replied in Tamil that translates into, "This happened 10-15 years ago. MP Brittas is a very good friend of mine. He asked me around a bunch of college students, you're from a good Brahmin family, how did you get married twice? I said, what does being from a good family have to do with marriage? He said, no, but you pray to Lord Rama, so you live how he lived. Firstly, I don't pray to any god. I don't follow Rama's path; perhaps I follow his father's (Dasharatha) path (who had three wives)."

Hassan got married to Vani Ganapathy in 1978 after they worked together in A 1975 movie Melnattu Marumagal. A decade later, the couple got divorced.

Following which the actor dated actor Sarika Thakur, and gave birth to their first child, Shruti Haasan in 1986.

Later they got married in 1988 and had their second child, Akshara Haasan in 1988.

The couple filed divorce in 2002 and were granted in 2004.

Thereafter Kamal Haasan dated actor Gautami from 2005 to 2016.

Kamal Haasan was last seen in the movie Indian 2 directed by S. Shankar. His next movie Thug Life is directed by Mani Rantnam and will be released in theatres on June 5. In the film he will be seen alongside Trisha Krishnan, Ravi Mohan, Silambarasan and Joju George.
