Zac Efron’s struggle with disease

Zac Efron battled life-threatening bacterial infection in Papua New Guinea during a docuseries shoot.

While filming his upcoming documentary series Killing Zac Efron in Papua New Guinea, 32-year-old actor Zac Efron contracted what Daily Mail reports a “form of typhoid or similar bacterial infection”. This happened a little before Christmas.

As per Justjared, Zac was flown to Brisbane, Australia, on a “life-or-death flight”, assisted by medical professionals and admitted to St Andrews War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill “in a stable condition”.

Finally, after receiving treatment for several days, he was given the “all clear” by doctors, and he could fly home to the United States on Christmas Eve.

The upcoming Quibi survival series Killing Zac Efron follows Zac and a guide partner deep in the jungle of a remote, dangerous island, falling off the grid for 21 days, dependent on nothing but a basic gear. Here’s wishing Zac’s back on his feet soon.
