After confessing his love, Drake leans in for a kiss but Rihanna was in no mood
Mumbai: Drake created quite a stir at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards by professing his love for Rihanna. The singer, who himself wasn’t available to receive his award for ‘Hotline Bling’, was on-stage to present Rihanna with the video vanguard award.
"She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old," a very mushed up Drake said, before embracing Rihanna with a kiss. "She's one of my best friends in the world. She's a living breathing legend in our industry."
The moment, however turned out to be ridiculously awkward, serving as an anti-climax to a genuinely heartfelt monologue on Rihanna by Drake, with his landing up on Rihanna’s neck proving to be the glory moment for internet gif generators.
Drake recalled first meeting Robyn Fenty, omnipresently popular as Rihanna, in 2005 at a Toronto diner, where she shot the music video for her debut single ‘Pon de Replay’. Helmed by Director X, Drake and Rihanna teamed up with X, on the monster hit ‘Work’.
But, the smooch gone awry snatched all the attention away from Drake’s rousing speech, with the internet taking to its hilarity with a vengeance.

As much as we feel bad for Drake, we can't help but loop this achingly rib-cracking gif.
