Minnie Mouse loses her voice

Russi Taylor, the actor who voiced Minnie Mouse, is no more

Russi Taylor, the voice most millennials and kids knew as Minnie Mouse’s for more than three decades, passed away last Friday at her home in Southern California. According to TMZ, the news of her demise was shared by Disney CEO Bob Iger who said, “Russi will be sorely missed and our hearts go out to her family and friends, along with our deepest condolences.” Russi had voiced Minnie’s character since 1987, when she played Minnie in a TV movie called DTV Doggone Valentine. She did so until even 2019. With a little over 80 Minnie credits to her name, Russi contributed to some very notable films including Runaway Brain, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Russi had voiced for iconic characters in other shows too, including The Flinstones, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and Scooby Doo.

She was married to long-time Mickey Mouse voice actor Wayne Allwine, who’d died of diabetes in 2009. They didn’t have any children together. The circumstances around Russ’s death are still unclear. She was 75.
