Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek starrer Papillon needed no CGI, know here why
Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek starrer Papillon is one of the much-awaited films of the year. Produced by Joey McFarland, the gritty drama is directed by Michael Noer. Speaking about the film, producer McFarland brought to light that the prison in the film set was so cinematic that they did not have to use computer-generated imagery in it at all!
“We could not have chosen a more cinematic, untouched, or beautiful landscape for this movie,” says producer McFarland. “The area where we built our prison is situated in such a way that we could rotate a full circle around the entire location and not have one issue that needed to be cleaned up using CGI.”
Based on the international best-selling autobiographic books “Papillon” and “Banco”, the film follows the epic story of Henri “Papillon” Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder and condemned to life in the notorious penal colony on Devil’s Island.
Determined to regain his freedom, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with a convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega (Rami Malek), who in exchange for protection, agrees to finance Papillon’s escape.
Wouldn’t it be a dream location for filmmakers to shoot? We can’t wait to witness it in Papillon.
Papillon is set to release in India on 31st August, 2018.
