Legal battle over Blue Ivy
Continuing with her legal battle over trademark with a wedding planner using the brand name Blue Ivy, Beyoncé has accorded her seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter the status of a cultural icon.
As per Justjared, the legal battle Beyoncé has taken on is over the planner Wendy Morales using the brand name “Blue Ivy”. Calling her daughter Blue Ivy a “cultural icon” in the newly filed court documents obtained by The Blast, Beyoncé argued her case for being granted the trademark by also stating that while Wendy runs a “small business, with just three regional offices and a handful of employees”, with weak online presence and poorly subscribed social media accounts, “consumers are likely to be confused between a boutique wedding event planning business and Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of two of the most famous performers in the world, is frivolous and should be refused in its entirety.”
Beyoncé, however, has also pointed out her trademark application is for “Blue Ivy Carter” NOT “Blue Ivy.” Beyoncé and Wendy are scheduled to head to trial in this case.
