Hugh Grant helps out WWII veteran

The 95-year-old veteran realised much later that the medals went missing after he and his family made a service stop in England.

In a commendable move, Hugh Grant is doing his part to help out a blind World War II veteran, Alfred Barlow, who lost his medals when he visited Normandy, France, recently, where he was attending a D-Day memorial. The Love Actually star has announced that he would personally offer a $1,100 reward for the medals’ safe return. However, others have offered to pitch in and the amount has now gone up to around $5,000.

Hugh had tweeted, “£1000 reward for their safe return. Contact sara@sarawoodhatch.com. Anonymity guaranteed.” The 95-year-old veteran realised much later that the medals went missing after he and his family made a service stop in England. According to Manchester Evening News, Alfred said, “These medals are worth very little to sell but to me, they are priceless. I had intended to pass all of my medals on to my grandson, which makes it even more upsetting.”
