Unbelievable! Game Of Thrones makers spend 10 million on one battle scene

The latest episode 'Battle of the Ba*****s', from the sixth season is reported to be the most expensive budget for a television show.

Game of Thrones aired it bloodiest episode yet, ‘Battle of the Bas****s’ which pitted Jon Snow against Ramsey Bolton. If the epic war scene wasn’t enough to get fans talking, this tiny detail surely will.

The show is now one of the most expensive television series ever made, all thanks to it flexible budget that crossed the 10 million dollar mark early this week. According to online reports, the makers spent a whopping $10 million on just one war scene in the ninth episode of season six.

The numbers for ‘Battle of the Bas****s’ episode, as reported by EW,states that a total of 600 crew members, including cameramen and prop masters, were used, plus 500 extras for Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton’s armies. The armies were then trained separately to make them look ‘more competitive’ on-screen. The episode also featured 70 horses, 160 tons of gravel, 25 stuntmen, and four camera crews.

The show that normally takes just eight- twelve days to shoot an hour-long episode, but the battle for Winterfell was shot for over 25 days. The figures however do not include the battle at Meereen and the VFX for Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons.

Reports state that HBO was willing to shell out the amount as they will be submitting this episode for many Emmy Award categories.
