Actress Alyssa Milano, who’s been vocal for women’s health rights, slamming the restrictive abortion laws in some states, took to her podcast Alyssa Milano: Sorry Not Sorry to talk about the two abortions she had within months in 1993. As per Justjared, Alyssa says back then she was in her early 20s, in a serious relationship and on birth control when she learnt she was pregnant.
“I knew at that time, I was not equipped to be a mother, and so I chose to have an abortion. I chose. It was my choice. And it was absolutely the right choice for me. It was not an easy choice. It was not something I wanted, but it was something that I needed, like most health care is,” she said, adding how devastating it was for her especially because of the religious principles she grew up on.

One of the reasons, the actress says she took to the abortions, other than her acting career and not being ready to be a parent, was that she was on Accutane acne medicine, which is known to cause birth defects in pregnancy. The actress, who’s married to Dave Bugliari and has two kids Milo, 7, and Elizabeth, 4, says she also suffered from a “sometimes crippling anxiety” back then.
