Aretha Franklin tribute gone wrong

Madonna gave a heartfelt tribute (or so she thought) to veteran singer Aretha Franklin, who passed away recently. Madonna’s entire tribute to the music matriarch was ripped apart by Twitterattis, reports People.com. Fans said that the tribute to Aretha sounded more like a tribute to herself, where she spoke mostly about her own struggle. Madonna spoke at length about how an Arethra song that she sang at an audition got her the gig and lastly said, “There is a connection! Because none of this would have happened, could have happened without our Lady of Soul. She led me to where I am today. And I know she influenced so many people in this house tonight. I want to thank you, Aretha, for empowering all of us. R-E-S-P-E-C-T (sic).”
