Mindy Kaling welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Katherine. E! News reported that the baby was born on Friday.
Talking about what it felt like when Oprah Winfrey broke her pregnancy news, the actress told Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October, “She did announce it. If anyone is going to announce big news about your private life, Oprah Winfrey is the person. You can’t complain that much about it. And you also can’t be like, “Hey, Oprah, zip it’ — because she’s almost like a religious figure.”
After an insider told E! News that the pregnancy was “an unexpected surprise” earlier, a source told People.com later that Kaling had “just started telling her friends” about her pregnancy, but was staying mum on the identity of her baby’s father. Several fans congratulated Kaling on social media.
