Lorde compares friendship with Swift to autoimmune disease', criticised; apologises
Mumbai: Feeling sorry about her recent statement, Singer Lorde has apologised for being ‘really insensitive’ by comparing her friendship with pop star Taylor Swift as someone struggling with an 'autoimmune disease'.
The 'Green Light' star has come under fire after comparing her friend Taylor Swift to an 'autoimmune disease' in an interview with The Guardian on Saturday.
The comparison landed the 'Royals' singer in hot water and she received plenty of backlash from fans online, prompting her to apologize.
Feeling apologetic, the 20-year-old took to her Twitter handle and wrote, "Didn't mention Taylor, but regardless, I f***** up & that was really insensitive. I'm sorry."
Earlier while speaking to The Guardian, she expressed the difficulty of maintaining a close friendship with someone as famous as Swift, in which Lorde said, "It's like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can't go together. Certain things you can't do."
"There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship," Lorde continued. "It's like having a friend with an autoimmune disease".
The two musicians are close friends, with Swift also throwing a 20th star-studded birthday party in November for Lorde.
