Selena Gomez befriends kidney disease survivor

The singer took time out to connect with fellow survivors of kidney diseases.

Selena Gomez, who recently had a kidney transplant, took the stage at WE Day California in Los Angeles to use her experiences to connect with fellow survivors of kidney diseases.

“Last year, I had a kidney transplant, and it was weird. It was weird but hard,” she shared, according to E! News.

She brought Nellie Mainor, a young survivor of a rare kidney disease, onstage. “This little girl with the big heart believes in the power of spreading joy and light to all,” the singer said, holding back tears.

“Do you know how much I admire you? Have I told you that for the past two days? When I was sick, a very good friend of mine knew the perfect way to make me smile, and I was very lucky. And now I want you to know that everybody in this auditorium is your friend,” Selena told Nellie. “Are we best friends now? Promise?” she added.
