Taylor Swift announced on Tuesday that she will be donating $1 million to help those in need in Louisiana in the US after floods caused widespread disaster, killing 11 people.
Swift said that the people of Louisiana had given her a warm welcome during her world tour in the state last year.
“During the world tour in Louisiana, wonderful fans there made me feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking,” the Safe & Sound singer said in a statement to the Associated Press.
“I encourage those who can help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” Swift added.
Thousands of people have been affected by the flooding that ravaged Louisiana over the weekend, prompting the Governor to declare a state of emergency, it was reported on People.com.
