Ed Sheeran makes a cameo in Game of Thrones

However, his role as a soldier from King's Landing got mixed reactions.

Fans of Game of Thrones couldn’t be happier as the show returned for its seventh season. However, singer Ed Sheeran’s cameo received mixed reactions from fans. His appearance was reportedly “unsubtle”.

Regardless, his cameo is the biggest musician cameo on the show. Members of Coldplay, Sigur Ros, Snow Patrol and Mastodon have made smaller appearances in the past.

In the episode, as Arya Stark is travelling on horseback, she stumbles upon a group of soldiers, with Ed, singing a campfire song. Ed got a lot of screen presence as the group then exchange banter.

His cameo was more significant for book readers, thanks to the song Hands of Gold. Independent.co.uk reported that it makes an appearance in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.

“If Arya doesn’t burn Ed Sheeran he’ll come back as a white walker and be playing Westeros Glastonbury for thousands of years,” a fan tweeted. Ed shared a photo from the show. “Throwback to the time I was a Lannister,” he captioned it.
