Red Carpet Ready

“I’m done doing that, I’m a man who wants to wear a dress and when I want to, I’m gonna,” Billy concluded.

Broadway star, Billy Porter wishes to normalise the idea of men wearing dresses on the red carpet.

The theatre performer, shared his red carpet ensemble choices at an appearance he made on The View on on Friday (June 14).

As reported by www.justjarred.com Billy stated: “I feel like as artists, we get to be a part of changing, be a part of change, changing the molecular structure of people’s hearts and minds, and we can do it through everything. With me, the clothes have a statement, the clothes mean something. I want to open up conversations.”

He added how the concept of women wearing pants has been accepted without a problem, so why should it be so difficult the other way around. “We moved through that because pants are strong. They’re considered strong; they are associated with the patriarchy. However, when a man wears a dress, very often people are disgusted.”

“I’m done doing that, I’m a man who wants to wear a dress and when I want to, I’m gonna,” Billy concluded.
