Hollywood Actresses to wear black at Golden Globes to protest sexual harassment

Many Hollywood actresses have been vocal in rallying against sexual harassment in the industry.

Mumbai: The Red Carpet will be all-black at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.

According to US Weekly, more than 30 female actresses who are attending and or presenting at the 2018 Golden Globes have vowed to wear all black to this year's ceremony.

"All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns," said a source.

The source added, "This movement is spreading rampantly and pretty much all the nominated women and others attending are participating. All the stylists who already did fittings are now changing out their clients' original picks for Globes."

Many Hollywood actresses have been vocal in rallying against sexual harassment since the story about allegations against famed producer Harvey Weinstein broke out.

Since then, a number of other high profile men have been accused of inappropriate behaviour, including Kevin Spacey, George HW Bush, Jeremy Piven, Brett Ratner, Dustin Hoffman, Steven Seagal, Louis CK, Jeffrey Tambor and Matt Lauer.

This follows the statement stars at the 2017 Emmys made this past September.

Many of the award show attendees wore a blue ribbon to show their support for the American Civil Liberties Union and their "Stand with the ACLU" initiative.

It should be noted that, earlier this week, it was announced that all the presenters at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will take place on January 21, will be women.

Men will still participate in the ceremony, introducing clips for the nominees in the film ensemble category as is tradition, and obviously male winners will take the stage.

Kristen Bell will serve as the first-ever host of the ceremony as previously announced.
