In an interview for the new Life Isn’t Everything: Mike Nichols as Remembered by 150 of His Closest Friends by Ash Carter and Sam Kashner, Melanie Griffith recalled working with Mike on the 1988-movie Working Girl. Mike died in 2014.
Melanie recalled when she’d upset him after showing up drunk on the sets of Working Girl. “Mike Haley, the first AD, just came up and said, ‘We’re shutting down,” Melanie recalled. The next morning, Melanie recalls the AD took her for breakfast told her that she’d have to pay for what it cost for the previous night. “And it was $80,000,” says Melanie.
