Ed Sheeran sued for copying Marvin Gaye
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been accused of lifting elements of Marvin Gaye’s classic Let’s Get it On, in his hit song Thinking Out Loud and an infringement lawsuit has been filed against him. According to Reuters, the lawsuit said, “The defendants copied the ‘heart’ of ‘Let’s’ and repeated it continuously throughout Thinking. The melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions of Thinking are substantially and/or strikingly similar to the drum composition of ‘Let’s.”
The creators of the 1973 song are dead, but the accusation was made by the heirs of Ed Townsend, who co-wrote the hit number with Marivn. It is not the first time that Ed is being accused of similar tactics. In June this year, he was sued for allegedly stealing another songwriter’s work for his song, Photograph.
