Star Wars: The Force Awakens wins Movie Of The Year

The J.J. Abrams epic was named Movie Of The Year, while Daisy Ridley was honoured for her Breakthrough Performance.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens exerted its power at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles as it took home three trophies. The J.J. Abrams epic was named Movie Of The Year, while Daisy Ridley was honoured for her Breakthrough Performance. Co-star Adam Driver was awarded Best Villain.

Going into the awards ceremony that was held Saturday night on the Warner Bros. studio lot, Star wars: The Force Awakens led the pack with a total of 11 nominations.

The blockbuster has been a global phenomenon, and made an international star of English actress Daisy, who plays the leading character Rey.

Accepting her trophy, the actress told the audience, “It feels especially amazing to be part of a film that represents all genders, all races, and all ages in a positive way.”
