A knight to The Emmys
The Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie is one of three actors to self-submit to the Television Academy and receive an Emmy nomination for the final season of the HBO series. As per Eonline, Christie did it because of the love her character got from her fans and because she wanted to be in charge of her own destiny despite how easy it was for her not to do so.
“And I would like to endeavour to give myself opportunities. Particularly when working very hard on something very special and you’ve pushed yourself beyond your limits,” she said, adding that she’d checked that it wasn’t an inappropriate thing to do.
Christie added how it has been an honour for her to play Brienne of Tarth, a character in the series who was committed to her dream and duty of being a knight. She went on to thank George R.R. Martin, David Benioff, her incredible cast and crew, among others.
