Pop-sensation Britney Spears is unfortunately taking an “indefinite work hiatus” and putting her Las Vegas residency on hold, according to JustJared.com
The Toxic singer announced in a press release that her father is suffering from a sudden medical emergency and she would like to be there through the course of his recovery.
Britney’s father Jamie was rushed to the hospital, two months ago, because of a colon rupture and he went into surgery. He spent 28 days in the hospital. The recovery is said to be a “long, complicated post-operative period.”

“I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me (sic),” Britney said in a statement.
