Here\'s why Joqauin Pheonix will not return as Joker in the sequel
Los Angeles: Joqauin Pheonix, who received rave reviews for his portrayal, will not return as Arthur Fleck just to cash in on the success of the Todd Phillips-directed movie, 'Joker'.
Phoenix told LA Times’ The Envelope, “I wouldn’t just do a sequel just because the first movie is successful, that’s ridiculous.” Joaquin revealed that he and Phillips used to discuss a lot about the possibility of a sequel on the sets of "Joker".
The actor shared, “Long before the release or before we had any idea if it would be successful, we talked about sequels. “In the second or third week of shooting, I was like: ‘Todd, can you start working on a sequel? There’s way too much to explore.’ It was kind of in jest but not really.”
Phoenix's October release set the cash registers ringing at the box office as the film raked in over USD 900 million worldwide, and even became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
'Joker' was release in India on October 2, alongside Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer 'WAR' and Megastar Chiranjeevi's 'Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy'.
