Ariana Grande sings about Pete Davidson

The album was born out of the events that have transpired in Grande's life in the past few months.

Ariana Grande dropped a new song about her split with Pete Davidson and the death of Mac Miller just minutes before the new episode of Saturday Night Live, reports TMZ.com.

The song titled Thank U, Next is the first single off a new album the singer will reportedly release before heading off on her Sweetener tour. The album was born out of the events that have transpired in Grande’s life in the past few months. The song’s overarching theme is empowerment, and it reportedly touches on the things she has been through in her relationships with both Davidson and Miller. Despite the potentially combative timing, the upshot of the song is basically that she’s good with all of her exes.

Soon after the song was released, Davidson made his own statement, saying, “I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes things just don’t work out and that’s okay. She’s a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”
