Julia Roberts reflects on her rise to fame

The actress, who is about to turn 50, has starred in hit films including My Best Friend's Wedding and Notting Hill.

Julia Roberts shot to fame in Pretty Woman back in 1990. Looking back at her stellar career, the actress confessed she was a ‘selfish little brat’ during her younger days as an actress.

The actress, who is about to turn 50, has starred in hit films including My Best Friend’s Wedding and Notting Hill.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Julia said that she didn’t always behave very well as she climbed the ranks to become Hollywood’s biggest star. “I was my priority, a selfish little brat running around making films," she said.

She admitted that it wasn’t until she met husband Danny Moder after a string of failed romances that she calmed down and grew up. “When I think about what makes my life my life, and makes sense and just shine inside of me, it’s him, everything has come from that for me,” Julia said.

Talking about her professional life, the actress said, “I just wait to see what comes along, as opposed to looking for it. It makes it fun and organic. There’s an almost unfair bar that a script has to attain for me to say, ‘I’m going to drop everything for this.’ Sometimes I think, ‘I’m pretending my name is Jane and I work in a bank.’ That’s kind of silly I’m a grown up woman!” she said.

While she’s open to taking on a new role if the right project comes along, Roberts said she’s happy with what she’s achieved in her career.
