Steve Bannon is off New Yorker's list

Steve Bannon, White House's chief strategist, has been dropped from the list of speakers at the New Yorker Festival.

Steve Bannon, White House’s chief strategist, has been dropped from the list of speakers at the New Yorker Festival after multiple a-listed actors cancelled their appearances in protest, reports TheHollywoodReporter.com.

The decision was taken after Judd Apatow, Jim Carrey, Patton Oswalt and John Mulaney all tweeted that they were canceling their scheduled appearances at the event. David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker, released a statement saying, “I don’t want well-meaning readers and staff members to think that I’ve ignored their concerns. I’ve thought this through and talked to colleagues and I’ve re-considered. There is a better way to do this. Our writers have interviewed Steve Bannon before, and if the opportunity presents itself I’ll interview him in a more traditionally journalistic setting, not on stage.”
