Mel B battled cocaine addiction

Antabuse is a drug that makes one feel the effects of a hangover immediately after one starts drinking.

A legal declaration by her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte, reveals that Mel B battled a cocaine and alcohol addiction which impacted her marriage and her ability to care for her three children.

Obtained by DailyMail.com, the declaration is backed by several texts exchanged between Mel B, Stephen Belafonte and marriage therapist Dr Charles Sophy that reveal her addiction and that she had agreed to take Antabuse and Vivitrol to tackle her alcoholism. Antabuse is a drug that makes one feel the effects of a hangover immediately after one starts drinking.

Apparently, Mel B tried to have these explosive documents sealed, but failed in the attempt.

In the declaration, Belafonte says, “The biggest reason for my concern with respect to the safety of the children was due to the Petitioner’s habitual and consistent addiction to and abuse of cocaine and alcohol. To make matters worse, my fear for the children’s safety was amplified due to the fact that Petitioner had fired the children’s nanny, who had been in the children’s lives since 2010 and I did not want Petitioner using drugs and drinking around the children especially without anyone else present to care for the children.”

It can be duly noted that the nanny was fired after allegations of Belafonte cheating on Mel B with her.
