Am appalled and angry as everyone else: Chloe on her film's body shaming poster
Mumbai: Actress Chloe Moretz is upset about the new poster that was released for her upcoming Snow White spin-off film, 'Red Shoes & the 7 Dwarfs.'
The advert shows a thin and a plumper Snow White, and brandishes a tagline: “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?” indicating that only the thin one was beautiful.
Since the poster was released, it has received much flak for body shaming.
Plus-size model Tess Holliday tweeted, “How did this get approved by an entire marketing team? Why is it okay to tell young kids being fat = ugly?”
20-year-old Chloe, who lent her voice to the animated film, also took to Twitter to express her disappointment.
“I have now fully reviewed the marketing for 'Red Shoes,' I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team,” she wrote.
She further added, “The actual story is powerful for young women and resonated with me. I am sorry for the offense that was beyond my creative control.”
One of the producers of the film, Sujin Hwang, has issued an apology and informed that the ad campaign has been terminated.
