Hema Malini's First Reaction: My Loss Is Inexplicable

The veteran actress breaks her silence with an emotional note, remembering the legendary actor and their decades-long bond.

Veteran actress and parliamentarian Hema Malini has broken her silence following the passing of her husband and legendary actor Dharmendra Deol, sharing a deeply emotional note reflecting her grief and loss. Calling him “everything to me,” she described his death as a “personal loss that words cannot define.”

Dharmendra, 89, passed away on November 24, 2025, at his Mumbai residence, leaving behind a legacy spanning more than six decades and touching millions of hearts across India and beyond.

In her heartfelt tribute, Hema Malini revisited their remarkable journey — a relationship that transcended cinema, controversy, and time. She wrote about how their bond grew gradually during their many film collaborations and how destiny turned their companionship into a lifelong partnership. She recalled her once-stated belief: “I will only marry the person I love,” a promise that eventually led her to Dharmendra.

Their marriage, once the subject of intense public scrutiny and debate, eventually stood as one of Bollywood’s most enduring love stories — built not on glamour, but on mutual respect, loyalty, and quiet togetherness away from the limelight.

Dharmendra, fondly known as "Dharam Paaji," starred in over 300 films, earning admiration for his versatility in romance, action, and drama. Beyond superstardom, he remained grounded, humble, and deeply connected to his audience — qualities Hema Malini highlighted with pride.

His passing has triggered an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow actors, political leaders, and admirers across generations. For many, his death marks the end of a cinematic era. For Hema Malini, it marks the loss of a lifelong companion.

While the chapter of his life has come to a close, Dharmendra’s presence — both as a beloved star and as half of one of Bollywood’s most iconic real-life partnerships — will continue to live on in memories, cinema, and cultural history.
