H. Vinoth Clarifies: ‘Jana Nayagan’ Is an Original Script, Not a Remake

Jana Nayagan, which marks Vijay’s final film before fully focusing on politics, is slated for a grand release on January 9.

Putting an end to speculation, director H Vinoth has clarified that Jana Nayagan is not a remake of any existing film. Although there were reports that the makers had acquired the remake rights of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, Vinoth has firmly dismissed the rumours, stating that the film is a completely original Thalapathy Vijay project.

Speaking at the audio launch event held in Malaysia, Vinoth said, “Some people say this is a remake. Let me be very clear—this is a 100 percent Thalapathy film.” He further assured fans that Jana Nayagan will be “a complete commercial treat in theatres.”

Responding to doubts about the film’s authenticity, the director remarked that certain people believe they can compete and emerge victorious, indirectly addressing the speculation surrounding the project. His statement has now firmly clarified that Jana Nayagan is an original story and not a remake.

Jana Nayagan, which marks Vijay’s final film before fully focusing on politics, is slated for a grand release on January 9. Telugu rights are pegged at Rs 9 crore, but most distributors are unwilling to take up since five Telugu films are releasing during Sankranthii festival.

We have to see how Tamil makers would be releasing the Telugu version on the same date in a few theatres or would have a different release date in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
