Exclusive: Is Salaar 2 Set to Be a Rs 400 Crore Spectacle?

To live up to the massive expectations, the makers have reportedly earmarked a staggering budget for the action-packed sequel.

After a long delay, the much-hyped sequel Salaar 2: Shouryaanga Parvam has finally been announced, much to the delight of Prabhas fans. To live up to the massive expectations, the makers have reportedly earmarked a staggering budget for the action-packed sequel.

“They are planning to spend close to Rs 400 crore on this action adventure, as the film will feature elaborate sets and large-scale action episodes,” reveals a source. According to him, the first part of Salaar was made on a budget of around Rs 225 crore by Hombale Films, and the sequel’s budget has been significantly increased to match Prabhas’ rapidly expanding global market.

“Prabhas has gained a strong fan following across the world, including Japan, and the makers want the scale to reflect that reach,” the source adds. He further reveals that director Prashanth Neel is expected to take up work on Salaar 2 from March next year, even as he continues work on his project with Jr NTR.

On the occasion of Salaar’s second anniversary, the makers officially confirmed the sequel on Monday, December 22, 2025, by unveiling a poster and teaser. This announcement put an end to persistent rumours that the sequel had been shelved, which had earlier triggered speculation and concern among fans.

“With both Prabhas and Prashanth Neel tied up with their respective commitments, the makers were holding their horses. Once there was clarity on dates and approvals, the announcement was made,” the source points out.

Prabhas remains the only Telugu star to have successfully completed one sequel with Baahubali 2 and is now set to headline two more sequels — Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar 2 — slated to go on floors in 2026. This is being described as a unique feat for a Telugu actor.

“He is ahead of even stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Allu Arjun in the sequels race. His pan-world expansion is encouraging filmmakers to actively explore franchise filmmaking around him,” the source concludes.
