Deepika Padukone, all set to make her comeback to films post the birth of her daughter Dua, will be starring in 'Spirit' opposite Prabhas.
The actor is reportedly being paid a whopping Rs 20 crores for the project, the highest remuneration in her 18-year career. In fact, sources say the sum could be even higher, making her the one of the highest-paid actors in the country.
“Deepika is a mega star, there is no denying that. She wields box office power, and her name plays a huge role in leveraging the brand that she headlines. It is high time actors were paid according to the value they bring in,” says a source.
Directed by 'Animal' director Sandeep Vanga Reddy, 'Spirit' is described as an action-packed drama. As per sources close to the film, Reddy was keen to cast Deepika, but she initially refused since she was expecting her first child. However, after a delay in the film’s time-
lines, he approached Deepika again, and she agreed. The actor has a meaty role in the movie, and she gave her nod after reading the script, say the sources. 'Spirit' goes on the floors this October.
