He is also known for featuring in shows such as "Snowfall", "Black Mirror" and film "Outside the Wire".

Los Angeles: Rising British star Damson Idris will headline "The Lord's Day", the upcoming series based on a novel by "House of Cards" author Michael Dobbs.

The action thriller show, which hails from streaming giant Netflix, will be produced by Bad Wolf, a prominent UK-based independent production company known for backing popular series "Industry" and "Doctor Who".

Idris became a global star after he featured in "F1", the blockbuster racing movie from filmmaker Joseph Kosinski and co-starring Brad Pitt. He is also known for featuring in shows such as "Snowfall", "Black Mirror" and film "Outside the Wire".
In "The Lord's Day", the actor will essay the role of Harry Jones, an ex-spy of Britain and convicted traitor, who has to use his skills and training to save the government of the United Kingdom from a hostage siege as the Palace of Westminster goes into lockdown and Parliament becomes enemy territory with the threat inside the building itself, as per the official logline.
As a member of the House of Lords himself, Dobbs is renowned for his political thriller novels, particularly "House of Cards", which was earlier adapted as a series by Netflix. The show, which ran for six seasons, featured actors Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in the lead roles.
"The Lord's Day" is written by Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent, best known as the creators of "Spooks" and "Humans". It is directed by Ben Chanan who earlier worked on series such as "The Capture" and "The Missing".
Jane Tranter, one of the founders of the production company Bad Wolf, and Dan McCulloch, will executive produce.
Besides "The Lord's Day", Idris will also star in fantasy epic "Children of Blood and Bone" from director Gina Prince-Bythewood of "The Old Guard" and "The Woman King" fame.
