Shah Rukh Khan’s first appearance at the Met Gala features an ensemble by the esteemed designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. As fashion aficionados know, his designer wear for the occasion "subtly connects the shared histories of Black and Indian dandyism". In a review of the meticulously crafted dress, Vogue wrote, "Its Mughal-inspired cut and the court jacket draw from India’s rich menswear tradition that has long blended indigenous style with colonial-era tailoring."

Speaking on the occasion, the Jawan and Pathaan actor said that it was Sabyasachi who impressed upon him to make a debut at the Met Gala. "I am excited to be here. I am not a red carpet person. This is my first. I am wearing this because I am comfortable in it," SRK said, adding that his children were pleasantly surprised when he told them about the Met invite.

Sabyasachi described SRK's fan-following as legendary. "The most important thing was to represent Shah Rukh as Shah Rukh and nobody else," he added.
