One Big Change in Vijay's Jana Nayagan
Film recertified with added footage; buzz grows over title card tweak as makers yet to confirm release date

Actor Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, touted as his final outing in Tamil cinema, has reportedly undergone a key change ahead of its theatrical release.
According to the latest update on the CBFC website, the film has been recertified with an additional 24 seconds of footage. With this, the total runtime now stands at 3 hours, 3 minutes and 31 seconds, slightly longer than its earlier duration.
Industry buzz suggests that the newly added footage could be linked to modifications in Vijay’s title card, which was also hinted at in the film’s latest poster. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the nature of the changes.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is an action drama that follows the story of Vetri Kondan, a former official who adopts a young girl and trains her to become strong and independent, even encouraging her to join the military despite her fear of violence.
The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil. Directors Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar and Lokesh Kanagaraj are also rumoured to appear in cameo roles.
The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
The film is set to release on July 23, 2026.
