Censor Delay Casts Shadow Over Vijay’s Jana Nayagan

The film was produced on a massive budget of Rs 400 crore.

With only four days remaining until the release of Vijay’s farewell film, Jana Nayagan, the excitement is reaching a fever pitch. While advance bookings have been tremendous, fans are growing increasingly frustrated and disheartened by the ongoing suspense surrounding the final release confirmation. The film was produced on a massive budget of Rs 400 crore.

Bad news is looming for Vijay and his fan base. Although the CBFC viewed the film in December, the makers have yet to receive the official censor certificate. Despite the board recommending very few corrections, and a revised version already being submitted, the certification remains in limbo.

The film's trailer, released last week, clearly hinted at politically-charged dialogues.

Jana Nayagan is still waiting for its certificate. As of now, there is no update on when, or if, the board will grant the final approval in time. If this delay persists, the film may miss its January 9 premiere and be forced to withdraw from the highly competitive Sankranthi race. This is unlikely to happen, though. A court verdict could prevent the unthinkable.
