Isha And Gurmeet On Tum Mere Ho, Chemistry And Bollywood Journey
I think the Marathi-Hindi combination makes it quite refreshing. When I first heard it, I really liked it, and I hope audiences enjoy it as much as we do.

Your upcoming film is titled Tum Mere Ho. What does the title mean to you?
Gurmeet: Tum Mere Ho expresses that feeling of belonging and authority in love. It is like saying, “You are mine, and I am yours.” It reflects the emotional connection between two people who are deeply in love.
Isha, this film marks your Bollywood debut. How special is this moment for you?
Isha: This film is very special and close to my heart. No matter how many films I do in the future, Tum Mere Ho will always remain memorable because it marks my first step into Bollywood. I have already worked in a Punjabi film, and I look forward to doing more projects in the future. However, making my Bollywood debut with this film and sharing the screen with Gurmeet makes the experience even more special. I am honestly at a loss for words to describe my feelings. I am extremely happy, excited and, at the same time, a little nervous.
Gurmeet, how does it feel to be part of this project, which is also a home production?
Gurmeet: We are producing this film, and we are all very excited. There are so many emotions involved—we are thrilled, nervous and eager to see how the audience responds. The best part is that Tum Mere Ho is a musical romantic drama. Music plays a very important role in Indian cinema, and when a film has good songs, it often attracts audiences to theatres.
What gives you confidence that this film will do well at the BO?
Our trailer and songs have already received a positive response and are trending. That gives us confidence, but we still have a lot of work to do. With only a few days left before the release, we want to give our absolute best.
Isha, your journey has seen several milestones, from reality television Bigg Boss... to regional films. How would you describe it?
Isha: It has been a wonderful journey because there have been different phases in my career. There were times when things did not happen the way I wanted them to, or when opportunities did not match my expectations. However, things have gradually started falling into place, and I feel that I am now moving in the direction I always wanted.
Every actor dreams of getting good opportunities, working with a good production house and playing meaningful characters. I feel fortunate that these things are happening for me now. I could not have asked for a better beginning to my Bollywood journey than Tum Mere Ho.
People are already talking about your on-screen pairing. What kind of response are you expecting for Isha and Gurmeet as a couple?
Gurmeet: Chemistry is one of the most important ingredients of a romantic film. We have spoken about this in several interviews. We did not need to do too many workshops to develop our chemistry. Sometimes, when the actors are right for their characters, the connection happens naturally.
When Isha and I came in front of the camera on the first day, our vibes matched. Even during the script-reading stage, we felt that something was working between us. Later, when we started shooting on location, our director also felt that the chemistry was coming across beautifully.
Ultimately, if the chemistry between the lead actors does not work, a romantic film can suffer. Thankfully, that worked in our favour, and the music adds another beautiful dimension to the story.
The poster of Tum Mere Ho looks very romantic and natural. How did you capture that moment?
Gurmeet: Interestingly, we did not take that photograph from a particular scene with the intention of using it as the film's poster. We were shooting, and some photographs were clicked naturally while the scene was happening. We were not consciously trying to create a poster-worthy moment.
Perhaps that is why the picture looks so natural and romantic. The chemistry was already there, and the photograph captured it beautifully.
Gurmeet, you have worked in television and films. What does being on the big screen mean to you?
Gurmeet: Being on the big screen was always my dream. When I was growing up, I used to watch films and imagine what it would feel like to see myself on a cinema screen. Watching a hero perform on such a large screen was fascinating to me, and I always wanted to experience that feeling.
Television has given me so much. It has given me recognition, respect, a name and, most importantly, an audience that loves me. My wife, Debina, has also been a huge support and has helped me stand on my own feet.
I will always be grateful for everything television has given me. Over the years, many film opportunities came my way, but I wanted to choose a project that would connect with my audience. I have done romantic television shows, but I had not explored this kind of romantic film in the way I wanted to.
With Tum Mere Ho, I felt that the time was right. I did not interfere with the creative process simply because I was also a producer. The writer and director developed the film, and I focused on giving my best as an actor. We wanted to create a film built around love, chemistry and music rather than experiment unnecessarily.
Which actors inspired you while growing up, Gurmeet?
Gurmeet: I have always enjoyed watching films, particularly old black-and-white films. Going to the theatre was a big occasion for us, and we also watched movies on a VCR at home.
Amitabh Bachchan sir was one of my inspirations. Later, I became a huge fan of Akshay Kumar sir. I loved his action, style and rough-and-tough personality. As a child, I wanted to do something similar and imagined myself performing action sequences.
When I came to Mumbai, I started exploring Shah Rukh Khan sir's films more closely and became a big fan of his as well. What inspires me about him is his personality both on and off camera. These actors make you realise how much dedication and individuality matter in this profession.
Does that mean we will see you in action films in the future?
Gurmeet: Absolutely! I am completely prepared for that. I would love to explore action films, but I also believe in choosing the right project at the right time.
With Tum Mere Ho, I wanted to explore romance and emotion through a beautiful story and memorable music. Every genre has its own charm, and I would like to experience different kinds of roles in the future.
Gurmeet, you have emphasised the importance of music in this film. Why do you think songs play such a crucial role in cinema?
Gurmeet: I believe that even if a film is very good, an audience might watch it two or three times. But when the songs are beautiful, people can listen to them hundreds or even thousands of times.
Music stays with people for a long time. A song can remind you of a particular person, a relationship or a special moment in your life. That is why I did not want to compromise on the music of Tum Mere Ho. I hope the songs become a part of people's lives and that they continue listening to them long after the film's release.
Isha, what attracted you to your character Tamanna?
Isha: As an actor, I have a wish list of characters I want to play, especially when I think about the kind of female characters I relate to personally.
I am a huge fan of Jab We Met and Kareena Kapoor Khan ma'am's character, Geet. She is bubbly, lively, expressive and full of energy. What I love about that character is that her personality feels so natural.
I have been like that since childhood. That bubbly and expressive nature is a part of who I am. So, I wanted to play a character who would allow me to bring my own personality to the screen while also giving me something new to explore. For me, Tamanna is that character. I feel connected to her, and I hope audiences will connect with her too.
Isha, you have been compared to Kareena Kapoor Khan, especially because of your bubbly personality. How do you take that compliment?
Isha: That is a huge compliment! I am really happy to hear that. Kareena ma'am is an outstanding actor, and Geet is one of my favourite characters. To be compared to someone I admire so much feels wonderful.
Gurmeet: I genuinely believe Isha has that bubbliness in her. As co-actors, it becomes our responsibility to support one another and ensure that the best in each other comes out on screen. I am confident that when more producers and directors see her performance in this film, they will appreciate her talent. I believe this is a very promising beginning for her.
Isha, which song from Tum Mere Ho is your personal favourite?
Isha: Without a doubt, the title track, Tum Mere Ho, is my favourite. However, the film has a variety of songs to suit different moods.
There are fun, peppy tracks that you can enjoy at parties, as well as beautiful songs that would fit perfectly into wedding celebrations. We also have Nakre, which is a Marathi-Hindi song. It is particularly interesting because the hook line is in Marathi, while the other portions are in Hindi.
I think the Marathi-Hindi combination makes it quite refreshing. When I first heard it, I really liked it, and I hope audiences enjoy it as much as we do.
Gurmeet, you have worked in different formats over the years. What advice would you give newcomers who want to enter the film industry?
Gurmeet: I would tell newcomers that if they genuinely want to achieve something in this industry, they need to be passionate and a little crazy about their dreams.
The journey is not easy. You will face difficulties, experience both successes and failures, and sometimes things will not happen according to your plans. There will be moments when you feel disappointed or question your decisions.
However, if you have the passion to keep going and the ability to handle those difficult phases, you should pursue your dream. Talent is important, but patience, perseverance and the willingness to keep learning are equally essential. If you are ready to face the challenges, you can build something meaningful for yourself.
Finally, what are your expectations from Tum Mere Ho?
Isha: I am hoping that audiences love the film, connect with Tamanna and enjoy watching Gurmeet and me together on screen. This film means a lot to me because it marks a major milestone in my career.
Gurmeet: We have put our hearts into this film, especially its romance, chemistry and music. The trailer and songs have received encouraging responses, which makes us hopeful. Now, we are looking forward to the audience's reaction. We want people to enjoy the film, connect with its emotions and carry its music with them even after leaving the theatre.
Any final message for your fans?
Isha and Gurmeet: Thank you so much for all the love and support. We hope you enjoy Tum Mere Ho and give the film the same affection that you have always shown us. Keep supporting us, and we look forward to seeing you in theatres!
