Indian #MeToo: Mukesh Chhabra keeps casting for Bollywood

Aspiring actresses still turn to the influential casting director, paying no heed to the #MeToo allegations against him.

Despite Fox-Star Studios suspending the services of director and casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Bollywood has still not cut off its ties with him.

Nupur Sanon, Kriti Sanon’s sister was seen at Mukesh Chhabra’s office premises at Juhu on Monday evening, leading to speculations that she was being cast by Mukesh in one of his projects.

While the internal committee of Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company (MCCC) is still in the process of an inquiry following sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by a model/actress, Mukesh has been suspended as the director of the film Kizie Aur Manny, and relieved of his casting duties for other Fox Star movies.

However, this has not deterred Bollywood stars from meeting him. “Mukesh is very close to many Bollywood actors and has helped nurture their careers. He will continue to do so till the inquiry is complete. Whatever the result of the inquiry, he will be mentoring many newcomers and stars in Bollywood,” says a source.

Interestingly, Banita Sandhu who was cast in October was his find, as was Warina Hussain, the heroine of LoveYatri. Sanjana Sanghi, his heroine in the film Kizzie Aur Manny, was also cast by him in a small role in another film.
