Chef trailer: Cook Saif blends the best of North and South in this family drama

The film, helmed by Raja Krishna Menon, is his follow-up to last year's very successful 'Airlift'.

Mumbai: Jon Favreau's 'Chef' has its dedicated share of fans courtesy its delectable (pun intended) familial moments and gorgeous, ensemble cast. Favreau's reel enfant terrible Robert Downey Jr. himself appears in one of his more appreciated cameos, alongside the ever so gorgeous Scarlett Johansson.

All of these led to the general public apprehension leading up to its official Bollywood remake by Raja Krishna Menon, whose 2016's 'Airlift' was a box-office success, but not exactly a critical darling.

However, the director seems to have silenced his critics for the timing being at the very least, with the trailer making a fairly localised and contemporised impression.

Saif Ali Khan, who's had a string of flops in the past few years,is in desperate search of a hit, and maybe the actor might have stumbled upon the perfect recipe for box-office success.

The film, the blends the best of South and North India ,has Saif as a separated parent to a pre-teen, trying to stabilise his career as a chef. the film has the actor paired opposite Padmapriya, an actress familiar to Bollywood fiends through Siddharth's 'Striker'.

The visuals and dialogues ooze freshness and a relatable sense of calm and composure through mundane chores and trivialities, a combination that struck a chord with the audience last year, through Shakun Batra's 'Kapoor & Sons'.

'Chef,' also starring Chandan Roy Sanyal,' is slated for an October 06 release.
