Mohammad Rafi's native town pays tribute to him on his death anniversary
Mumbai:People of Kotla Sultan in Amritsar gathered in huge numbers to pay respect to their beloved Mohammad Rafi on his 36th death anniversary. Kotla Sultan is the native place of the legendary playback singer.
The singer, who through the course of his career had collaborated with such imminent composers as O.P. Nayyar, Laxmikant-Pyarelal and R.D. Burman, and also legendary playback singers like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, has also inspired many an aspiring singer with his inimitable singing style.
The inherently soulful ‘Kabhi Khudpe’ singer was honoured with the Padmashri in 1967.
Celebrities tweeted and paid their respects to the melodious singer, as well, with some linking their followers to their own favourite Rafi song.
