It is tougher to look good always: Kareena Kapoor Khan on commercial Hindi heroine
Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set charm the audience with her next film ‘Veerey Di Wedding’ where she will seen alongside Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania.
On playing Kalindi Puri in ‘Veerey Di Wedding’, who is in the dilemma concerning marriage, if Kareena was in dilemma concerning marriage in her real life too? She says, “I don’t think so, everyone knows I’m not commitment phobic in real life but yes Kalandi is commitment phobic. I have always been sucker for love and aise kabhi nahi hua hai mere saath..I have never thought on this, because as a person I am always very clear in my life in general, never been in that kind of a dilemma.”
So are there any personality resemblances’ to Kalindi (her film character name), Kareena mentions, “Not at all. I am very different to my character Kalindi. I am very practical. And people who know me they all know I am very head strong; I always stick to my decision taken. Surely, she is very different to who I am.”
Speaking about new wave of women oriented films in Bollywood, the ‘Jab We Met’ star tells, “ I think there has been lot of women oriented film. Dirty Picture, Queen se lekar Raazi tak [from films like Dirty Picture, Queen and now Raazi] I think if the script is good it matters not ,the audiences love to watch good films. Then whether the film is a heroine or hero oriented one….they will support and back the film.”
Are there any challenges she face as a mother to her son Taimur? “The shooting of this film had started only after Taimur was born. So obviously I would like to spend more time with him. Therefore I have said that I will do just one film in a year,” Kareena speaks.
On telling stories on the sets of ‘Veere Di Wedding’, she says, “I didn’t narrate any stories. On the sets I always like to entertain everyone. I literally was pulling Swara’s leg all the time…So she must have meant that. But I never told any stories as such.”
So will she ever like to turn a writer? The actress says. “Why will I turn a writer? I am only an actor.”
Kareena on time management being a mom, she says, “Only in terms of time, I now want to give all my time to Taimur. Women are multi tasking. I am happy, as also I have good support system. So I can give work and give him time equally as well.”
Commercial film heroines have to work hard too according to Swara Bhasker, Kareena says, "I am glad that Swara feels that change in her mind about actors working in commercial films, I think it is tougher to look good always. It’s an ordeal and a hard task to actually, constantly maintaining your hair make up and always look pretty. Whether it’s a Mainstream cinema or any kind of Cinema, ultimately it’s a film. We all working in a film, have to dedicate to all that needs to make a film. Instead of typecasting anything; we should know that it’s our job. We need to take our job seriously.”
Kareena is quite a dedicated person in her life. She reveals, “discipline is something Kareena loves in Saif- The list has to be endless. I would have not married him if I did not admire him for all of those. The fact is that our value system is also very much alike. We agree on so many fundamental things too. So he has all of that, which you look in a man to be able to live with him throughout your life.”
Lastly Kareena’s Legacy baggage – “I think this baggage is limited to your first film only. Later on it’s your decision of choosing films has to be your own I hope I do my family proud.”
