No one knows the inside story: Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor talks about the slew of celebrity break-ups of recent times and how to make a relationship work.

With this being the season for celeb couples breaking up, Kareena Kapoor says that there’s no point discussing these issues as no one knows the real reason for these break ups, other than the couples themselves.

“People keep writing about couples without knowing the inside story. Celebrity marriage or relationships are as normal as anyone else’s. It’s a fluid industry, their profession isn’t like a 9-5 job. Neither is it that people start dating when they’re less famous and it is the ultimate success of one of the two that ends the relationship. We do not know what exactly might have happened behind closed doors, it is too personal to comment.”

Kareena herself is known for her great equation with husband Saif Ali Khan. “Marriage is a full time job; one has to keep working on it,” she says, adding, “When Saif was shooting for Rangoon, I was at home taking care of the kids. While I was shooting for Ki and Ka and Udata Punjab Ki, Saif was at home. We have to make time for ourselves

“In India, once an actress was married, her career was considered finished. But this trend has changed over the years. And now we are noticing films with new concepts. Saif has always been very supportive of my career. When I discussed about Ki and Ka with him, he said, ‘You should keep up to your claim of being a modern girl. Go ahead and do this film. Also if you and Arjun are playing husband and wife in the film, kisses are a part of the story, you should do it’. Saif will never want me not to work.”

Simplifying the equation of a relationship, Kareena adds, “We have to support, love and respect each other and give enough space to each other to be able to maintain that love. We simply cannot just say ‘There is no time for love’. Like in my case, we are both actors so whenever we start missing each other we make some time for ourselves. While in love one cannot be calculative.

Coming back to the topic of break-ups, we ask her about her cousin Ranbir’s break up with Katrina. She says, “How to deal and react with the break-up is their choice. Even though I’m an elder sister, I’m an outsider. I would simply support whatever their decision is.”
