I don't know how they cast you for my biopic: Sanjay Dutt to Ranbir Kapoor
Mumbai: While attending a house party at Sanjay Dutt’s, Ranbir Kapoor had to hear some strong worded statements about his choice of films. Who was the critic? His next project's primary subject, Mr. Sanjay Dutt.
A report in dna says that Sanjay Dutt, probably in an inebriated state, said to his future on-screen self Ranbir Kapoor that he cannot wrap his head around the fact that he (Ranbir) got to play him in his biopic.
The party, which went on till wee hours of the morning, was also attended by filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani and David Dhawan.
Sanju Baba started on a subtle note, saying he wishes to produce a film with Ranbir as the lead. Ranbir, of couse, said ‘of course’ and joined in in the conversation. Things turned awkward when Saju Baba suggested the movie’s name will be ‘Laddoo’. Perplexed, Kapoor asked Dutt the logic behind this unusual name. To which Dutt replied, “Yes, after that we will make films called Imarti, Jalebi and then Peda.”
Amid awkward silence, Sanjay said what he had been meaning to say all along– he watched ‘Barfi!’ and didn’t like it.
“I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? @#$^&* bloody hell, you are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don’t know how they cast you,” reportedly said Dutt.
He continued lecturing Ranbir, who maintained complete silence, adding, “You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can’t be doing films like Barfi!. You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman and Ajay would have been around for so many years, if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important.”
Much to everyone’s relief, things turned normal once Manaayata came into the room. Hope Ranbir did not take offence.
